My cousin and I decided to visit the cemetery above my grandma’s house, in those days wandering around at age 6 or so was relatively safe. I spotted a Garter snake and of course I grabbed it, others needed to see it. We wandered back to grandma’s house but everyone was gone except my great grandma Carrie who lived there as well. When I showed her the snake I started hearing what I now know as Norwegian cuss words! I backpedaled outside with my cousin in fear for my life. Uff da.
The End.

That's cute Woody .
It reminds me of my siblings and myself turning little bro room into a wild park.
We were breeding tadpols, tritons, ladybirds, and of course the trophee was Oscar the snake we found in the forest. My mum was not pleased at all to find Oscar in little bro's room and asked him to send him back to the forest.
We were so heartborken to see him go...
It was totally inoffensive though as was a blindworm. wink.png
Oh happy days....
I also remember fondly the mini crabs race on my big bro belly, all of us has a crab and we raced them.

Woody.
A cute story. But you are braver than I. There is no way I could pick up any kind of snake. as harmless as they might be. Even the word snake is enough to put shivers through me smile.png
Thanks

I do not do snakes here my last encounter was almost stepping on a Copperhead going our the front door, a shotgun ended the threat there. Next door had one come in the doggie door in the house. We got it outside with a pick up pole finally after some very careful trying to then bang and history snake a Copperhead also.

My shotgun was just a tool doing a job was all. As stated I do not mess with snakes that could kill you.

We live near a forest and there are plenty of snakes there : grass snakes, adders and along with them are common lizards.

Right across the street was my great aunt, a former supermodel. She never even made it out west from Ellis Island, scooped up like a piece of meat as I understand it. I was terrified of her growing up because she didn’t age well. Yikes!!
