It seems like two or three times a week I wake up to find a message from a new member. Most start with, “Hello, how are you doing ?” then quickly move on to say they like what they see in my profile and can we be friends.
There is nothing in my profile. I have cleared it of any information about me. Most are women though not all of them.
My instinct tells me that since these messages are formulaic , they are not genuine.
If you look at the profiles of these newbies they say nothing about themselves.

In these end times of Buzz50 do be careful.

Yes always be aware of scammers.
And if you do get messages from them….don’t ignore, Report them!

The sooner we know they are there…..the sooner we can remove them.

Pleased to say have had none myself but i would be suspicious of anyone who joins Buzz at this point knowing the site is about to close anyway.

This is how i feel personally - but there are probably exceptions.

They are removed very quickly from Buzz. One new member messaged me last week said she had just joined, was sorry it was closing and could I recommend any good sites !
She was gone by next day. She looked very young and had a forum name that suggested ‘good times’.

Some new members checking in are old members who have come to say goodbye to Buzz.smile.png
Some new members may be up to no good…..we can’t know that unless they show their true colours.
Unfortunately scammers don’t write ‘scammer’ when registering…

It’s lovely that old members are rejoining to say goodbye to Buzz…..

True i've already had a couple of messages from ex buzzers.
It becomes obvious very quickly who is a scammer, and who has rejoined briefly to say goodbye to old friends.

What is very obvious is if any of these ‘late comers who may have been chatting in greetings’ ask to exchange personal details in order to “keep in touch when the site closes”
They can be very plausible …but once your details are out there they can be used for all sorts of illicit purposes.

Ignore them, report them and we will deal with them.

Of course and obviously the majority of us are discerning and have 'been round the block a few times' thankfully.
Most wouldn't give personal details to anyone they don't know, but i guess some could be 'tricked' into doing so.

I find it easy to spot a scammer within minutes, but obviously not the case with some.
