When I got home today, from work, I found 4 identical messages on my answering machine. It was a female robo voice, informing me that my Social Security number was used in Texas in a fraudulent manner. Then it gave me the number to call: 973-323-2791. A little research on the internet, and you find out that quite a lot of people have gotten that call. The same number and the same message. They leave the same message 3 or 4 times, to make you think that it is a real emergency. I read that if you call the number, then they ask you to verify what your number is. Beware!

My parents used to get calls all the time from the “IRS” saying that they owed back taxes and the police would come and arrest them if they didn’t call the number they gave and arrange immediate payment.

Received call from San Antonio, TX re: SS# being compromised, was used to rent a car, and drugs were found in car, warrant out for my arrest. Called SS department, also called police, he came out to my house & took a report. Police told me if there was a warrant out for my arrest, they would come to my door & beat it down. Lol Then i bought a package to check activity of any illegal use of my SS#
Just ridiculous, why can’t these people get a job and go to work like everyone else. Makes me sick
OK enough of my rant

Scamming continues.., today a call came in on my cell while I was shopping, I don’t answer numbers I don’t recognize, if it’s important they’ll leave a message. I was surprised to see a voice mail. After reading the message I suspected it Was a scam, Most scam calls the return number isn’t valid but I called in hopes to confront them. it went to voicemail for a car dealership out of Pocahontas, Illinois.
I then called the SSA office 18007721213
They confirmed it’s another scam. I was informed citizens should report fraud information to the OIG at 1-800-269-0271 or online via oig.ssa.gov/report . (OIG is not a typo)

Attached is number that called me and copy of the message left...

My advice, phone the Social Security, or which other office has supposedly left you a voicemail, to confirm that they have been in contact with you,if not
Contact police

I had one of those calls recently and I considered it a scam. I like to do a reverse phone number
just to see who might it be. Curiosity I guess. Most of the time the number does not exists.
Stands to reason. Just another nut who wants some money. Well the penny bank is empty
and no one is home. I never answer the calls of course. Too smart for that.
