Your safety here on Buzz50 is paramount to us and although we cannot claim to be able to protect all members you can help others by reporting any problems.

Please do not post about Buzzers that annoy or upset you here on the forums; this is strictly against Buzz50 rules.

Please use the Report menu item at the very top right of our site to report problems on Buzz50 such as:

Members who are sending you unsolicited sexual messages
Members who seem to be trying to befriend you for monetary reasons
Members who are apparently too young for our over 50s site

OR you can

We need to bring members attention to a serious scam attempt made recently here on Buzz.

A Buzzer has alerted us to this scam attempt by a seemingly ordinary 'mature lady' member.

This 'lady' offered to give away a large amount of money (£50,000) as 'she is dying and wanted to help someone before she dies' our member was then told that she needed to fill in a form in order to release the money, and that would involve a fee of £165.

Clearly, vulnerable persons falling for this scam would soon add up to quite a few £165's for so called 'legal fees'

The scammer has been removed from Buzz and enquiries are now taking place.

Members are urged to be vigilant and to report to us in confidence any suspicion or hint that a scam may be being instigated however small the suspicion may be and it will be investigated.

Remember......if something seem to good to be true, it usually is.

Thank you.

Here is the report.
Mon, Apr 29 - 08:01 am
Hi Mila
I have been talking to Sarah101 and as we have been chatting she offered to give me a large amount of money as she is dying and wanted to help someone before she dies.
I have to be honest that I have been totally taking in by this person but haven't revealed any personal details. She doesn't even know my surname.
She offered me £50,000 and passed me on to her Notary and hes in France.

He then asked me for a form to be filled in and that I have to pay £165.
My son has googled the details of his office and e cant find him listed. The email address he has given links to somewhere in Poland and a lady called Theresa Hejmej.

Lot more to it.

Can you warn others on the site as she is friend with a few people.

Sarah101 was blocked the same day and all her 21 messages were deleted

I am reinforcing Mike's safety message here.

Buzz takes member safety very seriously and we urge members to report to a member of admin if another member gives them reason to feel uncomfortable in any way i.e asking for money, trying to lure members away from Buzz to chat i.e Hangouts etc. asking for or giving out their personal detail or being abusive or offensive in any way.

Alternately use the REPORT system and an online member of admin will pick up and get back to you.
All reports to admin are dealt with in strict confidence and the offending member swiftly dealt with.

Thank you.

This message is primarily addressed to our newest members, as it is being brought to our notice that they are again being targeted by romance scammers.

Romance Scammer is the term given to people who try to win the hearts and minds of others with a view to eventually getting some sort of financial gain from them.

When a Romance Scammer joins Buzz50 one of the first things that they may do is to form some sort of communication channel with as many potential 'victims' as possible. This is because they realise that it is likely that they will be soon found out for what they really are and booted off the site, so a means of communication away from the site is vital to their plan.

This can be by asking for email address, phone or text no. or asking to talk away from Buzz I.e Hangouts or Facebook etc.

If a Buzzer asks you to contact them away from the site then you should be very suspicious.

If you suspect a Buzz50 member to be some sort of a scammer then please do not hesitate to contact us as we don’t know about it unless members report them to us,
We will always treat your report with the strictest confidence.

Please help us in our endeavour to keep our members safe.

Thank you.

The admin team.
