Has anybody tried any health supplements to aid pain relief?

I am especially interested in Turmeric and/or Collagen which I have read can help inflammatory pain like Arthritis and bone density and joint movement.

I can see some online that look Organic and which have good reviews but I am always sceptical about online sales especially health claims.

So any experience of these would be great smile.png

Thanks ...

Hi cahoots smile.png

I don't know the things your asking about but I know about a few other things you could find out about.

Pink salt, to use in a bath buy coarse pink salt, to put it on your food buy fine pink salt. I've got wear and tear in my knees and since taking pink salt my pain has reduced by 95%.

Devil's Claw is a herbal remedy for pain, it's a common herb so your gp might know about it.

A copper bracelet might help arthritis but I've never used one.

A magnetic bracelet might help as long as the magnets are the right strength. Magnets are measured in gauss and the therapeutic strength is approximately 2,000 gauss. Be careful if you buy a magnetic bracelet cos some sellers will try to rip you off. You can't wear any kind of magnetic jewellery if you're pregnant, have a pacemaker, hearing aid or inplant for diabetes.

Raw honey could help with arthritis, I've been taking raw honey for years. A few years ago I stopped taking it for a while and had bad pain in my shoulders which might be arthritis.

None of these things are guaranteed to help everyone but they help some people.

Obviously you need to consider any other health problems you have so do your own research or speak to your gp, if you can get an appointment.

If you want to know mor send me a pm.

Hope this helps.

For muscular skeletal problems I use a massage gun or tennis ball for the back - up against a wall or deep heat. Acupuncture did nothing for me (frozen shoulder). Cortisone Injections should work . Turmeric works on circulation afaik. The cause of the pain is everything.

I have drastically reduced inflammation by cutting short of dairies.
Two friends with arthritis who did the same were also instantly improved/relieved.
( Although it takes about 3 weeks to get the milk proteins out of one immune system).
Of course it has to be done carefully with regular check and huge quantities of green veggies , fruits, tofu etc.... on a daily basis to make sure the calcium supply is adequate .

The most consistent evidence so far centers on yogurt. “Yogurt is associated with decreased inflammation, decreased insulin resistance and it may prevent type 2 diabetes,” Dr. Hu says. Nutrition researchers believe yogurt’s anti-inflammatory power comes from the probiotics it contains, but that has yet to be confirmed with rigorous trials, he says.

There is good evidence to suggest that the consumption of milk and dairy products lowers the risk of bowel cancer.
Having a balanced outlook on food , along with advice from a medical practitioner regarding specific health concerns is recommended before making drastic changes to one's diet..

Tumeric should not be taken without supervision by patients taking blood thinners.

It actually totally depends on the person eg whether he/she is lactose intolerant or not.
Many people are lactose intolerant without knowing and therefore get body inflammation or irritable bowel syndrom.
I read a very interesting book from a Canadian PHD medical doctor Jacqueline Lagace who explained how she stopped her rheumatoid arthritis and that of patients just with changing what was in their daily plate.

So yoghurts have many beneficial effects for some but not for all.

Dairy Research
A study published in The Journal of Nutrition in 2015 found that eating dairy foods increased low-grade inflammation in a small sample of German adults. And a study of more than 40,000 people with osteoarthritis (OA) found that those who ate more dairy products were more likely to need hip replacement surgery. On the other hand, several studies have found that drinking milk and eating yogurt can lower the risk of gout.

One thing is sure is that no one should change their diet without consulting with their GP and being closely monitor but many times the solution is in the plate as we might have food intolerances we are not even aware of.

My GP told me that people often give up dairy without substantial evidence that it is bad for them. Making up the calcium needed from other foods is hit and miss. . Most of us are not qualified nutritionists.
A better idea might be to give up sugar and soda drinks.

I stopped eating vegetables from the deadly nightshade family: tomatoes in particular. And I miss them--especially the variety of small cherry sized tomatoes we grow here. I was eating them like candy--probably an overabundance on my part. And much of the pain from arthritis has gone.

As others have said, check with your doctor and/or nutritionist. Your body isn't a science project.
