In 1619 on this day ,some 20 Africans, kidnapped by the Portuguese, were brought to the English colony of Virginia. Their forced arrival in the New World marked a beginning of two and a half centuries of slavery in North America.

And we were so ignorant we thought we were perfectly within our rights to behave in this way and use fellow human beings as a commodity because we were white skinned and they were not. The arrogant belief that white was superior to non white that some still hold as true today.
