Almost an expert, but not quite!

I polish my copper jewelry with a dab of lemon juice, not what they mentioned....and Home Ec was mostly about clothes designs, patterns and using a sewing machine in high school....made alot of my own dresses at home.
Agree, lots of the terms were american....was fun tho....

Oh dear and here was me thinking how much I always enjoyed Home Economics at school (or Domestic Science as it was called when I went to school in the UK!)....and that I should be quite good at this quiz.

By the time I had got to the coffee question, I had fathomed that this was an American based quiz and was pleased that my answer of percolator was correct........but in actual fact the way that MY parents made coffee in the 1950's was by pouring boiling water onto a couple of teaspoons of a dark coloured liquid that was called Camp coffee with chicory and came in a long thin bottle.

74% here. I never heard of an ice pet. I would have thought an ice pet was what you got if you forgot to let it in on a cold night, perhaps a dogcicle or a catberg. The cleaning tips are what kept me from a more respectable score, and I would use sand to clean a burned pot! My Mother was a bit of a clean freak, and I do not believe that she cleaned the toilet daily.

As has been previously mentioned I would not feel bad for not scoring more highly in this quiz than you believe you should have, there are a lot of US specific questions, and there are certainly common English or European alternatives to others.

I think it's a very good reflection that the UK and Europe resisted the invasion of US day time TV which may have given clues to some of the US centric answers. I seem to have, as a lot of us downunder did/do, straddled the dual cultures of good old English heritage and the growing draw of American way of life. It's likely one factor that makes our unique multi-cultural society function so well, we have absorbed knowledge from many cultures. Much as the UK has done since it entered the EU, though something also that some reject.

Remembering Harry Chapin 12/7/42-7/16/81
I Wanna Learn a Love Song

She said, "I want to learn a love song full of happy things."
She said, "I want to learn a love song; won't you let me hear you sing?"
She said, "I want to learn a love song, I want to hear you play."
She said, "I want to learn a love song before you go away."
