The price of cheese has gone up so much I rarely buy it anymore.
Not just fancy cheese but even boring old cheddar and processed.
I wondered if this was happening in other countries or an English thing?

Price of nearly everything has gone up here--Canada. I buy milk, eggs, cheese, salad, crackers and chicken thighs--yoiks the price of chicken has sky rocketed here. Used to be the cheap meat--not so much any more. That little lot of groceries? Close to $40.00--eggs are around $7.00 for a dozen. Salads? ditto. Chicken $10.00 for a small portion.

Don't know how families manage.

The price of some dairy staples such as eggs, cheese and milk have rocketed in price in the U K to a record high.
This has been accelerated by the war in Ukraine which has pushed up the cost of animal feed and fertiliser due to the impact on grain supply from that area.

This is happening around the world. The combination of events these last couple of years have driven everything higher, from a worldwide pandemic to the Russian invasion of Ukraine,, the costs of producing, the supply chain, fuel costs, labor and it's costs have all served to push prices / services higher.

Replying to Summerdancing.
It seems that £1 = 1.63 Canadian dollars, so yes the prices seem high, though I suppose it’s relative to wages.
Chicken is still relatively cheap here, probably the cheapest meat.

I do wonder just how much supermarkets are capitalising on Ukraine.
Egg prices haven’t really risen much as they always go up in winter.
But dairy foods like cheese, yogurt, milk produced in uk have gone up so much and yet dairy farmers interviewed on the news have said they are not receiving any increase from supermarkets
and many are saying they will pack up soon as they are running at a loss.

Yesterday while in Walmart dairy section I noticed the store brand chunk or block cheese had gone down .22 from $2.22 to $2.00 on all flavors. I was very surprised to see that. For a 12 oz block.

That seems very cheap compared to our prices. But when I’ve been in US the cheese is different, I only saw processed, not Cheddar etc.
Maybe that’s only sold in delis?

Many a night's supper for me has been a box of crackers, a chunk of cheese and washing my knife with cold milk to wash all of it down. Especially when working out of town.

Cheese would have to get ridiculously expensive to stop me buying it.
So far it's still in my price range!
