That is not my experience of any doctors I have worked with or any diabetic education I have ever attended - nobody is telling patients diet is not crucial - with or without medication.

For both diabetics and people with impaired glucose tolerance - pre diabetes if you like.

Yes, People can sometimes reduce their need for medication, sometimes to nothing, with loseing weight - but that is not reversing diabetes. it is taking it to diet control only.

A doctor with an agenda (ie a book to sell) doesnt change that.

Not sure why anyone cant argue with that because they are not diabetic - that is like saying nobody can argue with orthopaedic guidelines because they don't have a broken bone or oncology guidelines because they dont have cancer themselves

You keep using the word diet. If you google "diet" you get over 1 billion results but diabetes is still rising at an alarming rate. It is lifestyle that reverses diabetes. You also have to re program the mind because we are designed to get as much pleasure as possible from as little effort as possible hence why there is so much sugar in food because it increases dopermine. Of course you don't have to be diabetic to understand it but you argue with virtually everything I say even though I can prove my research with my own condition.
Also i'm not sure how a doctor writing a book about how he reversed his diabetes gives him an agenda ? Should he keep it a secret ? I've had to read several books and watch countless videos to reverse diabetes but isn't that what the our doctors are meant to do ? You sound as though you are happy to keep your head in the sand and as you're not diabetic you have that option but if you were told to stick a needle into your body several times a day you might take it more seriously. The NHS spends £15 billion a year on diabetes and the only beneficiaries I can see are the pharma companies. As you are in Australia Barbara Oneill is a good start on diabetes but she probably has an agenda as she runs a health company.
I've said enough and as I'm not a health worker what do I know anyway?

Obviously somebody selling a book has a profit agenda. Anyone running a health company trying to sell you something has too.

Yes I use the word diet - meaning here what we eat. Have never worked with any doctors or seen any diabetic research which says diet is not a crucial aspect of diabetes management, with or without medication.

Dopamine response happens with any pleasurable thing - it isn't something unique about sugar. Sugar is not addictive like cocaine.

Yes people can reduce their need for medication by loseing weight -but that is not reversal,it is ongoing management
.
No I do not think my head is in the sand nor am I not taking diabetes seriously just because I do not agree with you

1) You don't think pharma companies have an agenda :)
2) Diabetic research ? my last visit to hospital 3 months ago for something unrelated to Diabetes involved getting a blood sugar test among other things. Blood was 5.6 and nurses/doctors tried to force feed me a sandwich saying it was too low . I tried to explain I reversed it but they didn't know it was possible.
3) I didn't say dopamine was only connected to sugar. How can it be when dopermine is in the brain ? If sugar isn't addictive why do they call it "the white death?" Why is it easier to give up carrots and brocolli than chips, cream cakes and pringles ?
4) "that is not reversal" ...... see 2) above.........."they didn't know it was possible." It was Hammersmith hosp for the record, not exactly a hospital in the outback.
5)You're not disagreeing with me, you're disagreeing with the latest diabetic research. I don't have an agenda but it's ironical I appear to arguing with someone who isn't even diabetic.

1. yes of course they do - anyone selling anything does. Thats why there are regulations attached to them and why research needs to be independent.
Book selling does not have regulations and is not backed by independent research.

2. trying to force feed anyone a sandwich or anything when their blood sugar is 5.6 is ridiculous and no idea why they would do that. 5.6 is in normal range, not low.
But it is not possible to reverse diabetes - it is possible for some people to manage it without medication and losing weight can help reduce need for medication. That is not reversal, it is ongoing management

3. I said dopamine response is not connected only to sugar - it is a brain response to anything pleasurable. doe not prove anything about sugar.
Who calls it white death? sounds a silly sound bite from blogs. Not a term used in reputable medical research.

4. It is not reversal. I dont know where Hammersmith is but location of hospital doesnt change anything.

5. No I do not think I am arguing agaisnt medical research. I just dont agree with you.
and obviously I dont have an agenda either.
whether I am diabetic myself is irelevant to what the research and medical guidelines says

You say you are a health worker but I find it hard to believe. You don't know that pharma companies PAY doctors to push their products? that if they refuse they don't get funded? drug research is independant ?
Prescription drugs are the 3rd largest killer in the world. Check out Aseem Malhotra "killing for profit".
They tried to force feed me because my records say I am Diabetic but 5.6 is not in the diabetes range and they, like you, didn't think it was reversable. I only mentioned the hospital because it in a major city of the world.
As for sugar I can show many websites but as I mentioned Assem malhotra above he also has a lecture regarding sugar and fat called "The truth about fat and sugar is finally explained".
It is obvious you have not done any research because you are talking in historical terms. Lets face it neither you or I are going to stop Diabetes breaking all the heath services of the world but at least I can see it coming.

Yes I'm sure anybody can show many websites proving anything - the world is flat, for example.

But that doesn't make them reputable research sources.

Pharmecutical companies do not pay doctors to push their products and there are very strict regulations about product promotion and about research studies.

You may not believe I am a health care worker, that is your prerogative. Wrong but your perogative anyway.
I guess Pats isn't either

I will leave you to your unfounded conspiracy theories. (;;)

"But that doesn't make them reputable research sources."
At the risk of losing my 2 biggest fans Pats & Veggimite kid I disagree. Anyone who researches and even doctors themselves admit they barely get any training in nutrition and that is fine for many illness but Diabetes is too complicated for the average GP and I'm not talking out of spite but 18 years experience.
Off the top of my head I have reversed my condition thanks to the following and they don't have an agenda because there is no money to be made in getting people to change their lifestyle other than getting the truth into the mainstream. Diabetes is a mainstream disease affecting hundreds of millions of people but the people who have the answer are either ignored or treated as cranks. You couldn't make it up ! The only conspiracy is big pharma & big food working in cahoots.
I'll go out on a limb (before they drop off from diabetes) and say none of those below believe the earth is flat.

With respect , until they are taught that diabetes doesn't have to be lifelong and drugs do nothing because they don't stop the CAUSE of the disease which is insulin resistance and they have to change their lifestyle it will only increase. Unfortunately drug companies will make sure that never happens. An extra 20 million diabetics in UK alone in last 20 years would make most people question the point of the drugs ? Imagine making millions/billions from drugs that dont work ? As I was already on 3 diabetic drugs my diabetes "specialist" nurse gave me an "insuljet"injector (supposed to be less painful) and insulin and wished me luck! Next time she saw me I was diabetes free. She asked me how I did it when I should have been asking her how to do it. Moral of the story is maybe buy shares in the pharma companies because they are the only winners.
