I used to convert peoples old dresser furniture - into - bar - Also I had a request to cut a drawer to another size.
As well as my week-end job - of providing Mrs. - with log for the kitchen boiler / fire. With a Bow Saw - he boldly went
into the woods behind our house & saw away. Toy making in the summer for the children - 1966/1973 when we moved.
We seemed to have hot summers - then working outside - I made the children a Slide - out of a 14 foot stage makers
board - cut in half - & an old pair of wooden steps - On making the steps into to garden - I sent the kids into the road
to pick up the loose chippings - after the road had been re- serviced - It stopped suddenly - when the kids returned
with empty pails - a passing Policeman - had made them put it back - as the chippings belonged - to the council....

My hubby loves working with wood, using recycled wood only, he is always in the shed sawing or hammering something…..he has made garden planters for most of the family this year and a couple of garden benches.

I usually get the prototype….the others get the new improved version.

Woodworking is such a nice hobby. Had a laugh at the children coming back with empty pails. Also can relate to getting the prototype and I think at some point we have all been experimental subjects – my kids certainly were when it came to my baking.

My father was good with wood.

When i left home and bought my first flat, he made me the most beautiful coffee table - that was 40 years ago and it still has pride of place in my lounge. smile.png

Woodworking is my main hobby these days. I'm currently working on a solid oak three-tiered plant stand for our reading room. That's just about finished. Next is a new coffee table. And then an new entertainment stand. And then some outdoor furniture for the patio. And then... it's never ending! Which is good. My biggest fear is being bored.

I like a bit of woodwork but am not good at it, I brought an Axminster 6-speed lathe and made some bowls and pens,
Made 2 garden sheds but now on a smaller project it's a Barge, not a proper one but a model 50 inches long by 9 inches wide, it has to be that size to fit on my wife's office table but I told her it will be only temporary.
