I remember one Christmas mom had invited her Brother and his wife for Christmas dinner.
She said i need a word son now Aunt & uncle are coming for dinner there is not enough dinner to go round so when
i ask you what you want on your plate say you don't want any dinner ok but christmas pudding & custard will be after it wink.png Yesssssssssss i thought.
I was starving :( They ate all their dinner it looked gorgeous then mom said who wants christmas pudding and custard my hand shot up shouting meeeee she said you can sod off because you wouldn't eat your dinner :( :(

Yes....of course, in those days children were made to sit under the Christmas table and they were lucky to be thrown scraps meant for the dog. :(

Of course, that was only for the privileged few mind you. All i ever got was a stale biscuit or two :(

Sharkey was very lucky to be allowed to SIT at the Christmas table...at least he got to LOOK at the food. :(

We had a rough brick fire surround in our bedroom and I used to hang up one of my (clean) socks sometimes - the brick was so rough you could “stick” the sock fibres to the brick. When I woke up on Christmas morning, the sock would usually have fallen into the empty fireplace but there was never anything in it.
My brother was more hopeful (or greedy!) and sometimes hung an empty pillowcase beside my little sock - that remained empty the next morning too.
