I've always like the idea of making a Christmas cake at this time of the year (October/November) adding lots of brandy and whisky and letting it all absorb until Christmas time, when it should turn out lovely and moist and make everyone feel very festive!
But when I had a young family it was easier to buy a non alcoholic cake from the supermarket and stick a few snowmen and Santas on the top.

And now that I do have the time, I don't have the people to share it with and I can't imagine just me eating my way through an alcohol soaked Christmas cake over the Festive season....Although...Could be worth thinking about!! wink.png

I really love to make a Christmas Pudding.
Although, I am a bit like you Janquine, now I don't have the people to share it with.
The last couple of years I have still made one, but now I freeze pieces and keep it for myself smile.png
Now, I have it all year round ....... I love Christmas Pudding !!

A friend who lives on the same estate as me makes her own Christmas Cakes and Puddings. The cakes are made early in the year to give them time to mature, and the puddings are made in batches of six every few years, so the youngest pudding that can be eaten is at least two years old.

Aldi do a very nice smallish Christmas cake and I like their Christmas pudding - about mid May and as a meal on its own.

The Yule log never made it to Christmas , the pud was great ...
