Every cloud has a silver lining - after reading this thread, I've got a fit of the giggles - I found the thought of someone crossing out the Greeting they didn't like and returning the card to the sender hilarious - but it set me off thinking about a DIY "Select your own" Greeting Card.
You could have a selection of Greetings, with a box beside each one, so the recipient could tick the one they like best ..
  • Happy Christmas
  • Merry Christmas
  • Season's Greetings
  • Happy Holidays
  • Peace on Earth, Goodwill to All
  • May the Joys of Christmas Soften your Scrooginess
  • Eat, Drink and Be Merry
  • Fill yer Boots
  • None of the Above
  • Space to complete your own preferred Greeting

OK, maybe it's an idea which won't catch on ... but it amused me for a few minutes ... :silly:

If they said Happy holidays to me I would have to ask ,or I would like to say the same but I don't know which holiday
you are talking about. I guess I could just say Happy New Year to you also......

I just remembered another here at work 1 time my chief told us to go buy 50 stamps and Christmas Cards we did that after lunch and they said Merry Christmas he told us to return them and get the Happy Holidays cards we did, they were all passed around the station for all to sign most everyone wrote on them "Merry Christmas" and their full name, he sent them that way. They were mostly for judges and officials.
I personally got 27 cards this year every one said Merry Christmas on them but 1.

I will not correct any greeting as long as the motivation is clearly genuine and of good will during this joyous season. I take it as it comes with good cheer. Christmas cards are taken with the same consideration.
.
However,
I will reply a "Merry Christmas'" to anyone wishing me a "Happy holiday" with an appreciative smile and no lecture
unless I am drawn into a conversation asking me for my opinion...B) smile.png
