Might be better if there was any substance in it, not for me at all, broken record there.

The conversation in a chat room usually moves too quickly for convos with ‘substance’ ....unless you happen upon a room with only a few chatters, then there can be easy to follow pleasant conversation.

On the whole, people do not go into chat rooms for in depth conversations.

there are also plenty of opinions suggesting Forums can lack ‘substance’. :D

I've tried chat rooms several times to no avail. Several people talking to me all at the same time - who do I answer first? There's no time to answer more than one. It just moves too fast, speed seems to be the main objective.

I like to chat and people are very friendly on this site and also very polite and welcoming in the chat rooms but I soon feel like a fish out of water and then come to accept that I don`t really fit in - like the new boy at school - as everyone seems to know each other in the room as they talk in code and I feel very much out of it. So I make a polite excuse and leave.

I am not overwhelmed in chat rooms because people come there looking for something different to talk about.
When they say hi and buy that means what they were looking for is not in that room. Some people come to chat
rooms to meet people. That can be very hard to do if you do not know the person is a man or a women. You
should not go to chat rooms to meet people where the people there do not want other people knowing any thing
about them.

I agree with your take on the chat rooms, Aviara. With new members in and out, I often do not recognize the chatters, but they are willing to interact if you do. I don't go in much anymore, but that is because I don't have a few minutes to spare. It's not for lack of something to say or relate to.

Still, it may show others you are a willing participant to get to know them. Isn't that what chat rooms are for?

Better to be be surprised at what's around the next corner than to plan on what I might find there.

I am amazed that NEW YORK is still functioning without RIGHT NOW in charge of the NYPD.

I am not overwhelmed with chat rooms. I have been to a lot of chat rooms and found it is hard to get people to talk about anything. I don't understand why a person would go to a chat room just to say hello and goodby . A lot of
times I am not sure if they are a man or a women because of the picture they post
