I agree with the comments on here. I find the chat rooms far too quick especially on an iPad. Everyone obviously knows each other and there are numerous unconnected conversations going on. I tried other rooms but no one else was there at the time. Sometimes the chats were so quick people had responded without me even seeing the original chat line.

I am happy with 1-2-1 chat but am not likely to use the rooms now. I felt like a guest at a party who knows no one.

If you hang around a while in the other rooms, someone else who feels overwhelmed in the busy rooms may just come and join you for a quiet chat..;)

Happy to help.

Still early days. for you HampshireHog ,,it takes times ,chatroom members are lovely .
If I go in a chatroom ,where there’s no one I know ( I’ve been here over 4 years lol )
I post hi ,I do not know anyone in the room ,nice to meet you ..then I shout loudly. Lol.

There are six chatrooms and you can easily move around them or you can keep more than one open at once ( a moderator will show you how) When you are new or not confident to type you can watch a fast room and sit in a slow one until you are not alone and then have a quiet chat.

We can all do more than we have done and not be a whit the worse.

Not so much overwhelmed, more feeling left out of things a lot! If the room is well established, everyone seems to ''know'' everyone, some don't go out the way to make you feel included. Personally it would help me to enter a chat room if it showed who/how many were in the room before going in. Also, i think a few more rooms wouldn't go amiss, ie UK rooms.. so many users are USA, which i don't have a problem with in general, but find the time difference can make a huge difference to the form of chat.. and sense of humour etc is on a different level. Just my personal opinion.

I like chatting, but not sure which one even to pop in to. I've tried a couple, but so few were in there, it didn't seem worth staying. I guess I just haven't found my niche in one yet.

The very nature of Stranger to Stranger chat rooms are " Hi > Shy > Bye" Platitudes and Banality. unless 'friends' are in convo which would be best as 1>2>1 Pms.

As a slow typist, the Music Room, when used as intended and dependent on some time zones, is a good place to get the feel of Social Media listening to others and posting ones own choices.
The protocol being. if adhered to, 3>4 mins between musical offerings during which music enthusiasts are able to sync specific interests and often ultimately form 1>2>1 pm friendships.
Alternatively its there as background music whilst multitasking, adding one's comments as and when appropriate.
Simply 'enjoy' whatever. >> One is unlikely to find such an all singing all dancing Social Media site than >>Buzz 50.

Many (not all) Chat rooms are so trivial and tedious …

Hello
Welcome back, Fred
How's the weather ?
Good Morning Sue
I have a sore back
Oh dear, Fred
Hello Frida
Bye Charlie
Bye Sue
Hello Jack

No actual "chat" about ANYTHING.

keptafew wrote: I am new here and never chatted with more than one person at a time so when I visited one of the chat rooms and there were 12 people in there I was like totally overwhelmed by that.... Is that normal? I typically am not comfortable in large crowds anyways but didnt expect it to carry over here online.
So I ask, what was it like for you the first time in a chat room?

Like you,I was overwhelmed and I promised myself
to not joining again :) as it's much too fast for my liking!
