If a person has a dog,the dog needs to be exercised,so it could get a person out of the house,walking the dog,and also exercising themselves,meeting other dog walkers.

Animals are GREAT company for me I would not be without them PERIOD! We both here just finished breakfast

Obviously for a lot of people they do. Personally, I do not see how. I have a dog and two cats whom I like to have around as they are good fun but they don't provide the type of companionship which helps with loneliness. They are just pets. Myself and the dog walk for miles each day and I like having him with me but at the end of the day he is just a dog.
