Coronation Street is the only “soap opera” I watch. There’s a lot more humour in Corrie than the other soaps I have seen samples of.
I have enjoyed watching it, on and off, ever since I was a kid - my Mum used to take me with her when she went to a neighbour’s house to watch Corrie - I think it was on only twice a week for half an hour back then.
Personally, I think they should have stuck to that timetable. I don’t like the format of having two episodes on in one evening with a half hour gap in between.
Thank goodness for “catch up TV” I just catch up with what’s happening in The Street, as and when I want to now - although recent story lines have become rather tedious and boring - I think it is a casualty of the Covid social distancing requirements.
I have been enjoying dipping into the re-runs of old episodes of Corrie on ITV3, though - they are currently showing episodes from the 1990s, with the events leading up to the imprisonment of “Deidre Barlow” - which was mentioned in real life by the Prime Minister in Parliament and a big media campaign of “Free the Weatherfield One!”
By ‘eck as like, they don’t mek episodes like those anymore - the viewing figures in those days used to be three times what they are now.
