Farnham Castle

Built in 1138 by Henri de Blois
The Bishop of Winchester at that time
Being the Grandson of William the Conqueror
A building so sublime
Demolished by Henry 11 in 1155
And rebuilt again in the early 1300’s
For the reigning Bishop to live
I was residence to Cardinal Henry Beaufort
In 1431
And presided at the trial of Joan of Arc
And is why the church that bears her name was begun
The stables burn down in in 1609
During a Royal visit it occurred
King James, Anne of Denmark & Prince of Wales
Further extensions by Bishop Morley in 17th Century is incurred
During W W 2 the Castle was used
By the Military for Camouflage training then
And since 1962 it has been used
As a Multicultural training Centre again
English Heritage has Guardianship
But Farnham handles visitors by and large
Om certain days guided tours of Bishops Palace
For which there is a small charge
