"Utz chips are available at Strack & VanTil stores. There are a lot of brands of salted pretzels on their shelves also. Utz and regular Lays are the best chips in my opinion. I have not noticed any change in the quality of either of these 2 brands. "
Now that's strange. We go to Strack's quite often but never ever noticed that brand. I guess those must be buried somewhere in the 500 different varieties of pretzels, chips or bloated pieces of some kind of corn puff or other stuff.
This change in potato chips happened over a period of a month or a bit more. One brand after another changed on us. A brand would be fine for a while, then the changed chips started appearing. We'd buy a few bags of the good brand only to find some of the bags had the newer junk stuff in them. After another bit of time, no matter what brand we bought it had been turned into the newer bad ones.
Anyway, we'll try Utz, but one review my wife found on the brand was that they were not as salty as other brands. That's bad for me if true. Companies already have ruined brands of pretzels by using "less" - Read: almost no - salt. I luv salt! Potato chips or pretzels with "low salt" are an abomination as far as I'm concerned.
I'm sure what is really behind this change is the almighty $$$. The new chip must be cheaper for the companies to manufacture.
Potato chips are not the only product in which I have noticed such a change in quality. I think what is really driving these changes in so many products is that companies today collude to the point where the consumer has no choice. I have noticed many, many products being ruined this way.
Well, I like conversating, but I guess that's enuf bit***ng, whining and moaning for now. : o)
