I haven’t had chips in years, so I have no idea.

Not a big crisps person, but on occasion with beer they hit the spot, Utz usually, but really do not have a preference

I love a crisp sandwich.
Soggy white sliced bread, butter, loads of crisps, squash it flat and bite....yummy!

It seems Peerless went out of business in 2017 according to my Web search.

I never saw the Utz brand in any store in our area. Anyway, I've kinda given up on finding any eatable chips around here. I might add they also ruined pretzels a long time ago by dang near making them saltless. They're like eating wallboard now. I don't know why the makers think everyone has to be a member of the No Salt agenda.

I hope I'm replying properly. The Help page showing how-to for this site is no longer available. I'm quoting because I'm used to using Usenet wherein one always quotes.

not so many crisps per bag either,
but I still enjoy them...smile.png

"...they had a small blue bag of salt in them...."

Do you mean that they supplied extra salt to spread on them before you ate them?

I don't think salting chips that way is what I'd like. I think salt is always better cooked into a food than placed on top of cooked food. Ain't the same, I think.

"I find them too hard on my tender gums."

That's exactly what they've done to the chips I used to buy here in NW Indiana. They break into large, hard pieces instead of small fragments.

I doubt if English "crisps" are similar at all to American potato chips at all. But I know nothing 'bout "crisps".

Well, maybe it's a local change. It really puzzles me because it happened over a period of a month or so. One after the other brand changed into the new chip. I finally could not find any brand that hadn't. I ran out of brands to try.

My wife agrees with me about the change.

Utz chips are available at Strack & VanTil stores. There are a lot of brands of salted pretzels on their shelves also. Utz and regular Lays are the best chips in my opinion. I have not noticed any change in the quality of either of these 2 brands.
