As I entered my Older Years - I find the latest problem - is getting clothes in & out of my wardrobe.
Getting them out - is not too much of a problem - but ( there is always - a but ) putting them back -
during the last two weeks - has become a nightmare. - Strength in arms are missing now. - I have
tried using my pick up stick - I can get them - up on to the rail - but - then the rail gets in the way
when try to release it - I have clothes hanging on handles of drawers - until my No 1 arrives to
replace them - Do you find in your 80 & 90s - obstickles to an easier life.

Hi man of kent.

I use these to hang items on my wardrobe door. Perhaps these would help. You could hang items that are regularly used, or just until someone can put the items on the rail for you. They're very good and not expensive to buy.

I realise that you would have to lift the hangers up to a similar height as the rail but it may be easier as they're not inside the wardrobe, so not having to reach in as well as up.

Hi Man of Kent, ain't gettin' any youngerer eh ?
These pullout extender rails might help but you'd need get them fitted for you of course.
Perhaps 3 or even 4 mounted inside the wardrobe ?
Pull out so rail is outside of the wardrobe - hang without having to reach inside - then just slide the lot back inside the wardrobe & close ... or leave them out on extender until a helper can assist.
Either way it hopefully could make life easier.
They are available in the UK from what I've seen.
What they're called may differ slightly but you only have to ask or show a photo maybe?

The following pic may give a better idea of the rail extended.
You can also get 'coat hangers' with a swivelling hook that would perhaps better allow for the items to be turned at an angle - prolly unnecessary but ?wink.png smile.png

I am making `something` with a stick - with a metal rod - with two prongs - to fit - under the middle of the
of the hanger - then I will be able to LIFT using my right arm - assisted - by my left arm to hook it in the wardrobe -
I am looking for an old medal hanger - to bend into a U shape - then insert it into the rod.
Thank you for all your suggestions - Old bloke and Moonlit Roads63.
PS - I will not - see 95 - again.

Gee, all credit to you Man of Kent.
Was that "medal" hanger or was it meant to be 'metal' hanger ( what I'd call a coathanger made out of thick 'wire' ? )
If the latter I'm wondering if it will be stiff enough to support your items ?

Good luck, hope it works for you. Let's know later how you fared. smile.png

No more "95's".... So you're just a "whipper snapper" eh ?

I always look for simplier method - the metal coat hanger is made of strong WIRE - I only want the U part to be about a quarter of an inch wide ( I still work in old money ) - to be under the centre of the hanger.. My hangers are plastic

ONE THING THAT HELPS (AT LEAST IN MY CASE). I HAVE CUT W-A-A-A-Y BACK ON THE SIZE OF MY WARDROBE. I only leave the house a couple of time a week, and then usually in a pair of jeans and pull-over or button up shirt. Maybe hop in the car and pick up groceries, a prescription at the pharmacy or doctor visit.

Can't remember the last time I was "dressed up" to go anywhere.

Yes - I should get rid of most of my clothes - I used to have two sets of clothes - One here & one at my lady friends.
Now she has left this earth -12 years ago - I have lost a weight - so the clothes do not fit me - any more.

If your clothing size changed, it sounds like it's in a better way. Less weight than more!

On a less humorous side, I've noticed a gradual weight loss as I approach 90. (6 months from now). I'm not trying to lose, it's just happened - - -slowly. I attribute it to muscle loss which is supposedly heavier than "fat".
