Many of us still driving on an almost daily basis? I've just started noticing an occasional uncomfortable moment behind the wheel. Nothing earth-shattering but just a feeling.

I drive locally as I always have and have made a couple of longer trips (200 miles to the cottage in Maine and a round-tripper to our daughter's home - 70 miles +/-). Keeping with the flow on the expressways is not a problem but in strange areas, I don't seem to react as quickly with unexpected turns, etc..

Bought a new (to us) car recently and I realize that I'm also slower to adjust to new gauges and switches. No real problems so far but just a bit less comfortable than I've been throughout my driving years. I'm 87 at present and hope to keep driving for a few more years.

Anyone else share my "discomforts"?

Drive daily and fishing trips and shooting weekly Oklahoma is close to 200 miles round trip for me and I go all backroads and very early usually, local fishing is very close about 1-1/2 hours round trip then boat clean up at home, either I know the routes very well.

For a guy in your 80's, that's quite a schedule. Back in my early 70's I'd have struggled to keep that up on a daily basis.

Yes, I do. My friend who is 81 drives to see me and it is 130 miles one way. He enjoys going the back roads and different routes. I enjoy getting lost and then finding my way back home.

As Im a bad sleeper, Ive given up driving....
my late father fell asleep at the wheel, and had a head-on crash,
leaving my mother disabled....
IMO, if you are reacting slower at the wheel, give it up...
better safe, than sorry....
ps. I am under 80 !!

My mother was still driving at 89, short distances. We finally took her license at 90. It was the expense she could no longer afford for so little driving. Just made sense to her.

I am still actively driving at 68 years old, but my night vision is changing significantly and mostly for
highway and freeway driving....
