John Lennon would be 80 today. I wonder if he would add more to "Imagine". I reckon he and Yoko would have found more thoughts on the pandemic

I saw an interview with his sister this morning - she looks rather like John, I thought.
His sister said she thought that if John was here now, he would probably be busking outside a closed down entertainment venue and singing protest songs about the Lockdown.
Step by step, one goes a long way.

There’s a beautiful section in Central Park, NYC, dedicated to the memory of John Lennon ... Strawberry Fields , with a beautiful stone inlay on the ground called ‘IMAGINE’ .... I’m sure there’ll be a large gathering there today.

Happy Birthday John

I can remember seeing the Beatles on the Tower Ballroom (Merseyside) when they were just a local group. and thinking they were hopeless and would never go anywhere.
So much for my talent spotting capabilities

BBC4 are showing the old Beatles film A Hard Day’s Night, to commemorate John’s 80th.

I have it on now and it’s bringing back memories - I was about 8 when I went to the cinema to see this with my older brother and sister - and we managed to sneakily stay in the cinema to watch the next showing, so saw it twice, back to back.
It was a daft film but the music was great - and the Fab Four looked so young and baby faced back then, bless ‘em. Aaaah

I still remember the morning of December 9th, the morning after he was murdered. I was in shock. I couldn't understand why anyone would do such a thing. I still remember the time in around 1978 or 1979, when I saw John and Yoko walking down Broadway and around West 78th Street. She was all bundled up in a white fur coat. I could tell by the expression on her face that was she really cold. Whereas John, was wearing jeans and a denim jacket, which he had open. The weather wasn't bothering him at all. He looked about my height, 5'8".

I remember those days with the vigil out side of the Dakota where they lived. The vigil the following week in Central Park, where an estimated crowd of 50,000 were there to pay their respects for John. I was there.

I still have pictures hanging on my wall that I took of the banners that were draped along the stone wall, on Central Park West.

I sat through about 30 minutes of the film - terrible acting and "plot" but I did enjoy seeing them perform their old songs. They were all so incredibly thin, specially George.

Hard to believe that he has been dead nearly 40 years,8th December 1980,
He was only 40 years old when he died,so young,
No home is complete without the pitter patter of kitty feet.
