Getting older can see many changes both physical and mental,
Plus eyesight,hearing,
Oh the joys of getting older,

Heading out to get my driving license re-newed. Got the vision clearance fro my ophthalmologist and should be good for another 5 years (if I last that long haha). I'll be 86 in December and still drive the 200+ miles to Maine and the 100 mile trips to Connecticut to visit with our son and his extended family. Normally drive on a daily basis, groceries, pharmacy, doctor's visit or just my wife and I going out for lunch. I have chosen not to drive at night because the lights of on-coming cars are troubling.

Yes to both, I walk every day weather permitting, a mile. Shop for groceries, go to bank.
Life is great, if you have health, a little money, and a good flat. I learnt the internet, in 2005
by going on a free course ( two lessons ) changing a car number plate, on a computer.
I write, every where I go, i write, if held up. My latest creation is six A4 pages long & growing.
I cook small meals at home --- I visit a supermarket for a pot of tea, & friends --- Life is sweet

Only problem --- Mexican F1 Gran Prix --- is on tooooo late at 11-00pm + tonight & Sunday.

I'll be 87 in Jan., but remain fairly independent. While I am mobile, my walking is some what limited due to spinal stenosis. I gave up driving when I lost the hearing in my right ear and a good part of it in my left ear. I shop, gout with friends, run my household, cook, do laundry, etc. I thank the good Lord each day for my good fortune and wish all who are reaching this age bracket to be able to continue as independently as possible.

God bless.

I do not fear growing older........but I do fear losing my independence.........because I am fiercely independent in my personal life...........

I understand how you feel, I also fear losing my independence, buy at 84 i am still living in my modest home and managing quite well. I love the internet , which I have been on now for 7 years. I am an avid scrabble player. I make sure I walk for half hour at least 5 days a week. I don't have a partner, but that's ok , I have met many people on line that I chat with, male and female. We can get into some very "in depth" chatting!
