I am also 86 and will be 87 after the New Year. I agree with your statement 100%. Longevity is not the hallmark for my family, and besides a great aunt who lived to be 99, most pass on in their 60s. I have a sister who will be 73 this year and a brother who will hit the 70 mark, so I guess things are looking up in our generation. Although, my other brother passed 10 years ago at age 68.

Only the good die young. (Isn't there a song with that title?)

If Jimmy cracks corn and nobody cares, why is there a song about him?

Do most of you old folks still drive? At this point (closing in on 86) I still have little trouble behind the wheel, except for tiring more rapidly. I drive daily when home and we just drove to the cottage in Maine. A 200 mile run which unfortunately includes
going through Boston (Mass.) . Takes a bit under 4 hours but seems a lot longer than in the past.

My peripheral vision is still good but turning my head when backing is troublesome. The newer cars have the back-up cameras that solve this problem but my older model doesn't have the camera.

I have no idea about the USA rules about driving, especially older people, here in U.K. if health issues and sight issues occur, driving a vehicle could be dangerous.
