I would like to offer the suggestion that the topic of BrExit is way way too big and complex and far reaching to be confined into one single massive thread in the Serious Discussion section. There are so many individual factors that could be sensibly dicscussed such as :

Promises/Lies of the Referendum Campaigns
The Proroguing of Parliament
The facts about the Withdrawal Agreement
Readiness for Leaving
How Leaving the EU affects retirees abroad

and so on

Stacking everything into one single thread that is hundreds/thousands of pages long simply makes the whole thing unreadable and difficult to follow. Anyone coming to the discussions anew isn't going to want to wade through 500 pages of discussions and exchanges just to find the chunk that relates to Referendum Campaigns for example.

In addition you find that people will reply to a person's post that occured 3 pages back (due to sheer volume of posts) and when different people have similar exchanges they all overlap and the whole thing is a spider web of confusion.

BrExit is a massive issue for all of us and deserves it's own space on any forum. Numerous other forums have done this, provided a dedicated space just for BrExit discussion in which lots of separate threads relating to individual BrExit issues can be discussed. It keeps things neat and tidy and discussions typically only last a short period of time before people then move onto to a different BrExit topic.

This also makes it much easier to find and refer back to past posts on a given BrExit issue.

One single extremely long BrExit thread for a forum is really not enough nor sensible imho.

Please could we have a dedicated BrExit forum section in which different BrExit threads can be maintained?

Thanks

It’s been this way for over a year and we have managed ok with just one thread - with less than two months to go and Parliament shut down for half of it, there doesn’t seem much point in making a whole new forum section for Brexit at this late stage in the proceedings, now we’re on the home stretch, and pretty much everything about Brexit has already been said once, or twice, or more.

Maybe wait until end Oct/ beginning November and start a new thread or forum section for trade deal discussions, post Brexit???

You are correct Eira.

The Brexit thread started by Buzz Newsman (our dear departed Mike) has served us well over these months.

A new section has to be created by the techies and they have much higher priorities especially today when we have all been helping to deal with the crash this morning and the repercussions from it.

Yes a post-Brexit thread is on the cards.smile.png

It's a shame TBH

We can discuss all manner of issues relating to religion starting new threads as needed

We can discuss all manner of issues relating to health starting new threads as needed

and so many other things

But when it comes to anything to do with BrExit, any topic, and related issue, of which there are a great many with new ones arising every day, it all gets lumped in to one huge confusing thread.

If we are denied a proper section for it then at the least allow people to create more than one thread in order to separate out the various issues.
