Every month Amazon gives you a free one to listen to on Alexa, if you have it.
I bought a small cd player so I can buy a few I fancy, or with luck, get them from a charity shop(they rarely have them in this area though) Oxfam online sells them.
I must confess, if I just want something rather nice to listen to I put on 'Wind in the Willows'
Ok I'm 70 but love kids stuff to listen to smile.

I've only listened to one. That was Dennis Waterman's, narrated by himself. I enjoyed it.

If you don't mind abridged versions, Radio 4 has Book Of The Week and Book At Bedtime.
