I do collect a few what some might call esoteric books. I have quite a few by Loren Eiseley, an Anthropologist now gone from the world forty years plus. I must have about ten copies of The Night Country alone even after giving some away some times. And I have some philosophy books, some from my younger days, Hegel, Sartre, Kant, Nietzsche, etc. but only certain translations. Same for some literary classics. I only like the Stephen Spender translation of Goethe's version of Faust from German to English. I usually read philosophy or biology related books but each year I try to get in a classic or two. Last year as an act of self-flagellation I read Jane Austen's Pride and Prejudice. :-) Currently I am reading the Bhagavad Gita. Namaste

I sometimes buy books at auctions and yard/garage/tag/boot sales, and sell a few on Ebay as well.

Excess books that I come into I sometimes donate to the thrift shops, libraries, or otherwise give away, some if they look unsalable or undesired by anyone might end up in recycling or in my wood stove. I still love them though.
