Does anyone remember the amazing Kit Williams, and the search for the golden hare?

I remember it well, 1979 . It was a book outlining a treasure hunt with clues to find a golden hare crafted by Kit Williams himself and buried, I forget where. A gimmick really to sell his beautifully illustrated book. It was the topic of conversation at all the arty dinner parties.
The hare was worth around £5,000 but it was incredibly beautiful. I got the book for my daughter who was far too young to appreciate the beautiful artwork but I spent hours trying to solve the clues . More adventurous souls actually went looking for the hare and eventually someone solved the puzzle, wrote to the author saying where it was and Kit Williams agreed and it was 'dug up'.

I remember being fascinated by it as a teenager, yet never actually had a copy myself. ( i wonder how much they're worth on ebay? I'll go look)
It did inspire me to do amateurish versions and treasure hunts with my kids though! (I'd spend hours trying to produce an "authentic" treasure map)
* checked ebay a tenner gets a decent 1st edition. yes please Santa.xmas_santa.p

It prompted me to go and look through my kids' stuff to see if I still had our copy. Sadly it was not there.
