The advice already given is best. Try and clear whatever virus has got into your computer. Resetting may not be enough but I wonder about another factor too. If reset, will the OS need activating again? Maybe, maybe not. If it did, I don't know that it's possible to activate Windows 7 now and some sort of 'hack' might be needed to run the OS. A bit beyond the scope of the ordinary user.
Do you have a backup of all of your personal files stored on a disk away from the computer so that they can never get infected? If not, this could be done now but once you get the computer virus-tree and are very sure it has gone, scan the stored files with a couple of anti-malware programs to make sure they are clean. If personally created files are not backed up, permanent loss is always a risk.
I know other people still run Windows 7. There are even computer hobbyists who run XP, Windows 98 and 95. I think though, that if you just want to use a reliable computer, it is better to upgrade it every now and then to a newer one with better hardware and an operating system supported by Microsoft with monthly updates.
Some programs that work with Windows 7 may not work on a later operating system. An unfortunate effect of upgrading that happens sometimes. Newer operating systems have a 'Compatibility Mode' that will often overcome these problems however. Do you still have the installation files and key numbers for the paid programs?
