During the day I use my usb speakers but late in the evening or night, I plug in the headphones.
To do this I have to fiscally find the end of the cable and plug it in a round hole in my base unit.
Is there a switch program I can download to switch from one to the other or any suggestions on how to do this?

I'm not sure about an app or programme but I wonder if Bluetooth headphones would work ... you can pair it with your computer and just plug it in when it needs charging ... you could walk around with them on too as there would be no need for a cable that had to be plugged in ... just charge the headphones whilst you're playing music during the day?

I have some that 'hang around my neck like a collar so no damage to my ears and can hang them up or lay them down from room to room depending what I am doing.

Hi Caretaker, the short answer is no if you are using a wired connection, i personally only ever use a wired connection for earphones
However, there could be some on here who could advise you regarding wireless headphones connections
good luck

Edited to add cahoots has a good suggestion

How are the speakers connected? Do they plug in?

As has been mentioned if you have wired headphones then they need to be physically connected, but you can have both wired speakers and your wired headphones permanently connected and switch from one to the other by changing the output source in your settings. It's not hard and only takes a second.

It is essentially the same for your wireless/bluetooth speakers, while they have no physical link you will still have to let your computer know where to direct the sound, again by switching the source in your settings.

You can buy a small switch which you plug both the headphones and speakers into. Switch is connected to PC so no need to find cable. Bluetooth headphones would work as well.

Got it sorted with your help, switch 4 gang plus a 3.5 plug converter to a USB outlet, my speakers are also USB.
