And humans have done that too in extreme situations.

I've had several dogs in my past. Each one became 'special'. I find if you treat a dog right, they give unconditional devotion to their master. Last one was a golden lab, had from a puppy. When we had to end him on medical advice, twas like losing a son.

'A dog is a man's best friend" A common enough saying...why? Because they are more loyal than any other animal, and some may even say they are more loyal than people. Dogs and humans have lived under the same roof for more than 15,000 years.

I love dogs. We had one for 17 years. Gone now for many years but I still miss her. She used to come around with me everywhere when I was self-employed and driving around the houses.

I've often thought about getting another dog but one thing I don't miss is all the dead patches on the lawn and having to be careful where to tread. I think I'll just keep making a fuss of other people's dogs.

Our daughter had two small dogs that she used to bring with her when she stayed with us. I got to quite like them. They used to want to lay on me when I was watching TV. This was only for a couple of weeks every now and then.

My friend is a black & white cat - that my daughter bought for me years ago - It sits there - not asking for
anything - We are not allowed to live pets in our community - this arrangement - suits me fine.
