Well, I’m staying neutral but you can “stick up for him” if you like - as neither of us know the parties involved, our opinions are irrelevant to them - some may see it as projection.

Is staying neutral always the best policy in your view?

Meghan says she has "always cared about her dad", but cant allow either herself, her new husband or her child to see him even once (how can anyone be neutral as to whether that is evidence of "uncaring" rather than "caring"?). .

I dont know Mr. Markle but am prepared to trust my senses, and my belief his daughter couldn't have reached the heights he has done without both his love, care and many other things, well beyond what any of us may have been able to do in our own lives (to mention projection, are you sure you're a better parent?). .

In circumstances such as this one, where I know none of the people involved and have only heard Mr Markle’s side of the story about their estrangement directly from him and have not heard Meghan’s side of the story from herself, I do think neutrality is the best policy.

I have never suggested I am a better parent than Mr Markle, nor do I think that, so I don’t know where you get that idea from.
I am quite prepared to believe that both Meghan’s parents have been instrumental in how their child has turned out and that Mr Markle’s parenting, encouragement and support helped Meghan in her education and acting career.
I have never heard Meghan say anything in public against her father - she has only praised him in public and acknowledged his support and beneficial influence.
Staying neutral about their current estrangement does not equate to dismissing his contribution to her upbringing - it’s just an acknowledgement that I don’t know the whole story and it’s possible both ‘sides’ are seeing it from a different perspective. It’s impossible and unnecessary for me to take sides.

More Meghan supporters out there now.

What I'm worried about for him is that the tide is going to turn as it normally does and there's going to be a lot of adverse publicity. Already read an article saying that she used to go with him after school to do her homework and his place of work was on the set of what sounds to me like a porno movie which had a lot of controversy in the States it was called Married with Children if anybody knows of it.

Written by Verna Hills (? ) and first published in 1939 this American folk song is Particularly apt for this situation.
Off topic, but we are actually perpetuating the Harry / Meghan / Dad saga , some of which is speculation, by going round and round it and adding little anecdotes. It’s sad, it won’t end yet, but maybe it will cool a little.

It’s easy to stay with the crowd, it takes courage to stand alone.

You are right about one thing, and that is Meghan Markle will have many more supporters than Thomas Markle, so there is an imbalance there as to how many are remaining "neutral" but more importantly an imbalance between them, and I'd argue the way parents and their children are viewed in general across western societies, where "reverence for age", "respect for those who have contributed to our lives" dont enter our collective consciousness. .

Well they described some of the scenes in the article and it definitely sounded like porn to me and not something you'd do in front of the children lol

Married with Children was a long running US Sit Com focused on the Bundy Family, they were low class middle income and quite forthcoming in their views. Al Bundy (Ed O'Neill) the central character was a misogynistic shoe salesman and Peggy (Katey Sagal) his long suffering wife, definitely not the housewife type, but very attractive, as was Kelly (Christina Applegate) 16 going on 25 and Bud (David Faustino) the son, the smart one but luckless and trying to take after dad.

The show was a story of a dysfunctional family and though some of the story lines were suggestive at times, it wasn't close to being porn.

Nowhere near porn. Regular prime time TV stuff.

Silly and exaggerated stereotypes, but certainly not a problem to watch or make in front of children.

Your article seems to have greatly misrepresented it if you think it sounds like porn.

Oh I used to watch the Bundy's and would have watched that in front of my children. Think this must be different though as the stars they mentioned that were in it aren't any of the names you mentioned. I'll try and find the article again at some time, can't now though as I'm working.
