Yep, I've been catching the odd match, A stunning opening first goal for Spain this Morning ... I usually do a thread on the Women's footie, but I have been busy , But i will catch up on this thread when they finish the Group stage ...
Bad luck to the Irish , but they were playing a good side in Canada ... still, 2-1 wasn't so bad wink.png ...
USA Kick off at 2 am , Not sure i'll be awake ..lol.. still i can catch up in the morning .... I'm looking forward to the Lionesses game on Friday Morning , Kick off at 9-30 am ... They must do better than the first game if they want to finish top of their group.....

The Lionesses can qualify for the final 16 with a win this morning, otherwise it's waiting for the final game in the group
My prediction, for what it's worth ... Lionesses 2 - 0 Denmark ...

Group D
England 09:30 Denmark
China 12:00 Haiti

Well what can i say , first two games the lionesses managed to scrape 1-0 wins , i had them down for a draw this today , I got that wrong .... China 1-6 England .... maybe they were just warming up ..lol.

Denmark go through to the last 16 with them ... other teams going through so far are .. Switzerland ,Norway , Australia, Nigeria, Japan, Spain, Netherlands,USA,
6 more places left ... in groups F, G, And H, still to play their final matches ...

One of the commentators I heard reporting on the series made an interesting observation, they said you notice when the women score all their team mates and the goal scorer run together to celebrate, in the men's game the scorer runs to the crowd for acknowledgement. For the women it's a team triumph, for the men it's look at me, me, me.

Joining the others is France, Jamaica, Sweden, South Africa, and Columbian and Morocco, that group saw Two-time champions Germany sent crashing out of the Women's World Cup group stages in the biggest shock of the tournament thanks to a draw with South Korea.

It is the first time in Germany's history they have failed to reach the knockout stages.

Reigning champions the USA are out of the Women's World Cup after being stunned by Sweden on penalties on a night of incredible drama in Melbourne.Losing 5-4 on penalties ...

Sweden join Spain, Japan and Netherlands in the Quarter finals with 4 more places to be decided ...

Lionesses kick off in the morning at 8-30 am and play Nigeria, could the lionesses be European champions and world champions ? Got a good chance I reckon ...although Spain will take some beating ...

Australia kick off at 11-30 And play Denmark ...

The last pair of games play on Tuesday, with Colombia v Jamaica Kicking of at 9am
And France v Morocco kicking off at 12 noon ....

Was not backing the US team, but when they lost and before the replay was showed. I was telling the Misses, we don't mind losing but we would like to see the replay. When they did I said - good call and the US lost.

Well well , another good game and surprise Team Nigeria made the Lionesses work for it , but the lionesses roar on to the quarter-finals .... Penalties were always going to be the result in the end as lack of quality finishing from both sides, that and good Goalkeeping... England Win on penalties by 4 to 2 ...

Australia v Denmark up next at 11-30am BBC 1 Right now in fact ....

What a touching display of good sportsmanship by the England women as instead of celebrating their win by penalties THREE England players went over to comfort the Nigerian goalkeeper who was crying. The also told the cameraman who was about to film her tears to back off and then all three helped her up. A wonderful example to youngsters watching.
