Forget about Germany. Why would it be a pundit extraordinaire? When was it successful in the last decade?
No chance for them to win against Spain. Means Germany will be flying home after the group stage and marks the end of a World Cup messed up by the FIFA in every respect from the start. It never ought to have been allotted to Qatar in the first place.

I agree it should not have been held in Qatar, More corruption in FIFA than a Vegas casino owned by Bush and Blair.
Germany for me didn't look the grind machine they were, they were decent to a point but do look beatable even though I didn't think Japan would be one of those putting them to the sword.
Spain played well but the opponent Costa Rica were dreadful, they made it so easy for a decent team like Spain to look like a 70s Brazil.
Spain know well Germany will be out for 3 points against them and I see that game being very close and it wouldn't shock me if it went either way. Louis Enrique is a clever man and I think he will be happy to play more compact against Germany and take a point and believe Spain can beat Japan and qualify.

WOW not a soul would have seen that coming.
Fair Play to Saudi Arabia they started nervous but came into the game and played very well they defended amazingly.
Argentina were not the fast-paced quick passing team today they usually are but it is the first game and Argentina have chances to make amends.

Argentina had 3 (I think it was) goals disallowed for offside 2 I thought were borderline but we have to accept it.

The second half Saudi Arabia were the better team and deserved the win.

Always an upset in the World cup but this is one of epic proportions.

This is what the World Cup is really all about, seeing the Minnows take out a footballing giant, absolutely fantastic
Best game of the Tournament so far...and a well deserved Public Holiday

Back in 2014, when the World Cup was held in Brazil, The well oiled German Machine demolished Brazil in the final 7 - 1
However, you are right in saying there has not been so much of that well oiled machine, definitely needs a good tune up
Can't take anything away from Japan though, well played

2014 The final ended 1-0 to Germany over Argentina with a Goetze goal in extra time.
The Germans beat Brazil 7-1 in the semi-final.

By Jove Bruce, you absolutely right, i stand very much corrected!
Apologies Starfish for the misinformation
I can only imagine that the final wasn't as exciting as the 7 - 1 demolition

The final was a good game a bit tense if you were Argentinian or German but good to the neutral.
I think that 7-1 was so unexpected it sticks in the mind and with Germany winning the Trophy it is easy to put 7-1 with them winning hence mentally putting it as the final.
The 7-1 was one hell of a beating though and very entertaining to the neutral.

To the non-neutral both matches were exciting and kind of surreal. The suspense lessened during the second half of the 7-1 match as unexpected as the result was while the final was thrilling until the very end with Goetze scoring that fantastic textbook goal made possible by Schuele's brilliant cross.
Our coach gave Goetze another chance in the match against Japan but it was not to happen again.
