Little Bertie, Daniel’s son, aged about 3 took anti depressants from Gemma’s bag and ate them. I was in and out of the kitchen and may have missed something but doctors at the hospital said he was unharmed by this. Surely he would at least have fallen asleep ? Did they pump his stomach while I wasn’t looking ?

All is fine Aida they didn't need to pump his stomach - kept him in under observation only..

Coronation Street sciguy ... a Brit tv soap.

The antipressants were prescibed to Gemma who was falling asleep all over the place .... Bertie was supposed to have taken 5 of them .... he was ok and was taken to hospital but I think the storyline should have portayed the consequenses a little more realistically.

I have been watching this soap opera since it started. Lately, however, some of the storylines don’t seem to have been very well thought out. I’m pretty sure a three year old boy would be either very sleepy or high as a kite having taken 5 anti-depressants depending on what they were ! I agree that the script writers could have portrayed the consequences more realistically and turned the incident into a safety warning to parents and carers of children.

I think this was explained by the 'nurse' at the time he was admitted.

She said that luckily there would be no long term side-effects with that type of drug, but warned if they had been sedatives the outcome might have been far worse - then kept him in under observation as a precaution.

I would think the research team on Corrie would have made sure this was correct especially where children are concerned.

The nurse did in fact issue a warning about keeping drugs out of the reach of children.

He’s meant to be 4 1/2 not three! He’d be at school in Reception not with a child minder.
(But perhaps it’s different in Wethersfield)!
