A very good storyline at the moment about Maria and her online stalker is excellent and the producers of Corrie are doing a great job with this one......makes you feel very uncomfortable knowing that this happens to so many people every day.
Is it possible that when shows run a certain subject as this one this time it is online stalking that it also gives people ideas to be a stalker? Counter productive?
No not really i don't think people need shows like Coronation Street to give them ideas. Online stalking has been going on for years.
It's a problem for so many at the moment and the producers have done their research into the subject - the more information victims have about the laws surrounding online stalking the better.
I agree. When Corrie and other soaps tackle issues like this, it is because it is already an issue that people are having to deal with. Raising awareness of the issue helps people to recognise the signs and ways in which you can protect yourself and where you can get help if it’s happening to you or someone you know.
Corrie has been tackling social issues for many years - I sometimes watch some of the old Corrie episodes - they are broadcast in the afternoon on ITV3 but can be viewed anytime on the ITV Hub.
They are currently showing episodes dating back to when my kids were teenagers and some of the storylines cover social issues that are well known about and well understood nowadays but back when they were first aired, many viewers would not have been fully aware of them.
