When you were at school, was you in the church music choir? I was, I absolutely loved every minute of it, really enjoyed it,Easter,Christmas were really good times, the church would be decorated in yellow bows for Easter, and Christmas, there would be a Christmas tree, all the parents would be sitting in the seats, the church service would begin, the choir would be singing,it was a really happy time,
I very rarely hear about children joining the church music choir nowadays.
They were good memories for me

our church was started.. .. or maybe continued is a better way of putting it.. by dutch immigrants.
and so the private school came through it. self funded as we were not catholic.

the *church choir was for the adults.
but the school.. that was childrens choir. every friday afternoon.

we sang at church functions. and also at nursing homes, hospitals, the legion, and charitable events.

and we were all *personally appreciated.
at the end of *every event..
before the crowd was allowed to disburse..
we, the choir first, then the choir teacher, would form a line at the exit.
and every person exiting shook hands with us.
some rubbed our heads; and sometimes even the teacher's head.. lol
and everyone had something nice to say about our performances; directly to us in turn.
we felt really good about ourselves.

so i can say now; cheers church and school and audiences for a job well done.
helping instill a sense of pride in the students.

Lucky you were able to enjoy that Jujo ….we’ve had no choir singing (or singing of any kind) here for a long time …another ‘covid restriction’…:S

Attended a small country Congregational Church as a child until entering the military for 4 years. During my service time, I met and married my wife and we started attending her Baptist Church.

My memory tells me that the hymnals from both churches were very similar and the hymns bring back wonderful memories when I hear them today. Same with the Christmas carols.

My family moved around a lot but I still remember being in a church choir as a boy once. We dressed in robes and there was something that felt really special about it. One Christmas we went door to door Christmas Caroling.... that was almost 60 yers ago...my, how times have change... Thanks JUJO for stirring up such pleasant memories.
