There is an advert running on UK tv that asks the question 'Where do you you think of as 'home?'
So what springs into your mind when you think of 'home'?

I've had a variety of places where I've lived, I was born in a gardeners cottage in the UK, then moved into a nissan hut with my parents for a few years, from there we were allocated a council house where I lived until I was 21.
My next couple of years were spent in Sydney with my hubby's family, followed by a number of decades living in Adelaide with my own growing family.
Now back in the UK in a small but cosy cottage.

'Home' for me has always felt like the council house I lived in with my mum, dad and sister. And yet I lived with my own family in Oz for a lot longer than that and we were a happy little family.

Where do you think of when you think of 'home' ?

I think, if you have enough inner resources, then you can live in isolation for long periods of time and not feel diminished by it.

I’ve lived in the same small town all my life except for short periods elsewhere….have had several different homes, of those I’d say my parents home where I lived for 24 years and the home I have now been in for over 30 years are the two I’d see as “home". When I think of home I think of this whole area I suppose.

I agree with Pats, home is what you make of it...it's not just a place of abode.
Anywhere I currently live in is "home" to me...it's the heart!

I lived in the same big City all my life, with the exception of 5 yrs living on the West Coast of Canada. Both our families have never lived anywhere else, and are all still there.

About 7 yrs ago, with both children long gone and in their own homes, we bought a house about 2 1/2 hrs north of the City, and used it as a vacation spot for a short time. I came to love the house, the area and the few people I met. I now consider this home, and consider myself very very lucky :)

I now live in a different country to my son and about an hours drive from my daughter& her children.

My son comes over to the UK and stays with me for 4-5 weeks every July/August (although sadly not this year)
My daughter and her children are regular visitors to my house and make themselves throughly at home!

I think for my two children, 'Home' is where their mum is!!

Home sweet Home. Home is where the heart is. a safe haven from harm and the outside world. from viruses and danger. and cold . just as well really. we're stuck in it for some time yet. so we better like where we live for a while. :cheer:

The town I live in in Berkshire. My family were moved out of London in the 50's I was just a babe in arms and have never known any where else. I love it here and wouldn't think of living anywhere else. I've seen the town grow and it is still growing. It is definitely my home town.
