Cleaning the fluff from record player needles
The fun of playing records at the wrong speed to see what they sound like
Cassette tapes getting caught in tape players, and needing a pencil to wind them back
Top loading VHS players and having your favourite tapes chewed up when they went wrong
Rubbish support films at the cinema before the main feature
Getting the money back on empty lemonade bottles
Playing board games
Using a cassette player to load a program in a microcomputer

In reflection and comparison with offsprings.
"Juvilnal Inventiveness". We made things ourselves from debris.
Two-seater boats. From orange box ends, coruugated iron and road tarmac.
Steerable Racing carts. From wooden boxes and dumped rubbish.
Camps. From Willow tree wittle. Some were still standing 20yrs later.
The event of the 1948 Olympics was our piece de resistance.
We made our own, 200mls from the venue. Discus, Javelins, Shot, High and Long jump pits. Pole vault of sorts. All made from discarded rubbish.
Grandchildren agog. Googled. "Simulation of Solid Objects in Computer Graphics",

Those hideous wooden Scholl flip flops which made that horrid clicking sound when women walked in them.
Women going the shops with rollers in their hair and a headscarf

And who didn't have one of these birds in their house when they were younger

I’ve never seen one before .. I must of been a deprived child

Maybe it was a regional thing I can't remember I do remember nearly every house I went in to as a kid had one, they were not as plastic as the one pictured, you used to start them swinging and they would continue swinging for an age, How impressed I was  I also found the urge to flick it irresistible as my parents used to say "Don't touch that you will break it" everytime I went near it so I did it when they were not looking lol.

Going catching frogs and newts and bringing them home building my own pool and frog newt house in the back yard.
Don't think my kids have ever seen a newt! I think they are very protected now which is mad as there used to be millions where I grew up.

Tales Of The Riverbank, voiced by Johnny Morris of Animal Magic . Both great shows for kids.
