UK LAW

Putting a postage stamp bearing the monarchs head on an envelope upside-down is an act of treason!

It is against the law to gamble in a library!

It is law that you are not allowed to ride in a taxi if you have the plague!

It is against the law to operate a cow whilst intoxicated!

A bye law that was not revoked until 1976

All taxis are called "Hackney Cariages", and every year each taxi driver has to apply for a licence from the local Council, part of this licence is to have an illuminated sign up on top, to this day.

The London Hackney Carriage Act 1831 states that cab drivers faced a 20 shilling fine for not providing victuals for their own horses. The law wasn't repealed until 1976.

So, right up to 1976, the bye law stated, that every "hackney cariage" must carry a bale of hay for the horse.........::huh:

[/size]

And there was me thinking the passengers before me must have had a sneaky roll in the hay !! wink.png

These are still on the UK statute book so are technically enforceable....

No person shall, in the course of a business, import into England, potatoes which he knows, or has reasonable cause to suspect, are from Poland

It is illegal to carry a plank along a pavement (as well as any ladder, wheel, pole, cask, placard, showboard, or hoop) in the Metropolitan Police District

It is illegal to handle a salmon in suspicious circumstances

It is an offence to beat or shake any carpet, rug, or mat (except door mats before 8am) in a thoroughfare in the Metropolitan Police District
A perfect martini should be made by filling a glass with gin, then waving it in the general direction of Italy.

Never argue with an idiot......they will drag you down to their level then beat you with experience.

In England:

It’s illegal to enter the Houses of Parliament wearing a suit of armour

It’s illegal to fire a cannon within 300 yards of a dwelling house
Step by step, one goes a long way.
